City Charter Amendment on Election Consolidation Passes
Twenty-one proposed changes to the Dallas city charter will appear on the Nov. 5 ballot for Dallas voters to decide, including an amendment that aims to consolidate our municipal elections from May to November in odd-numbered years. The amendment will appear on the ballot in November as a proposal to "Remove the Election Date from the Charter." If passed, it would allow the City to work with state legislators to pass legislation allowing changes to municipal election dates. The League supports this amendment, as election consolidation will decrease voter fatigue and increase voter turnout.
Relevant information on the candidates and issues that will appear on the ballot in November will be included in our Voters Guide, which will be published in October!
