| Transition to ChapterSpot Membership Platform
As we work to empower voters and defend democracy, we need more time, talent, and funding. Changes to our membership system will help provide these resources, ensuring the League of Women Voters remains a powerful force for the next century.
LWVD, along with the National League of Women Voters, transitioned to a new membership platform called ChapterSpot on February 3, 2025. Through the new ChapterSpot Member Portal, members across the country will join, pay dues, and update their information.
What You Need to Do If You Are Already A Member:
Some members may have already received emails inviting them to login to the new portal and set up their profile there. The transition team has delayed sending out all of the invite emails as they troubleshoot some issues that members have been facing. More invite emails are expected to be sent next week. However, any member can log in at portal.lwv.org — there is no need to wait for the invite.
Here are some instructions to help you login to the new Member Portal and set up your information there:
To login into the portal, go to portal.lwv.org. The easiest way to login is by entering your email address and receiving an email with a verification code. Be sure to use the email address associate with your League membership. Enter the code that is sent to your email on the login screen to get into the portal. A video describing this process is available here. Alternatively, it is also possible to set a password for logging in, but this is not necessary.
Note: because an email address is the login, each member must have a unique email address. Members cannot share email addresses.
| From the main Membership page, you can click My Profile to update their personal information, Payments to see payment history and manage payment methods, and My Address to add or change an address. It is also possible for members to add a second address if they spend part of the year in one place and part of the year in another. | | | If it is your first time signing into the new portal, you may be asked to complete your profile information in a form that looks like this: | Please email us at info@lwvdallas.org with any questions or issues you are having with setting up your profile in the new Membership Portal. | Job Openings at Dallas County Elections Department
The Dallas County Elections Department has several job openings. Anyone who is interested can find more information by clicking the link in red at the top of www.dallascountyvotes.org.
| In Remembrance: Diana Dutton
| LWV Dallas sends condolences to the family and friends of Diana Dutton, a long-time member of our League. Diana was an inspiring advocate for women and girls in the DFW community who spent her life breaking barriers and championing causes close to her heart. Her obituary is available here. | | | Advocacy Corner: Action Alert
| The Texas Senate passed SB 2 on Feb. 5th, 2025, which establishes Educational Savings Accounts (ESAs) for 100,000 students at $10,000 each to pay for private school tuition. ESAs are welfare for the wealthy. Texas already has school choice and needs to protect and fully fund its public schools. Contact your State Representative to urge them to say NO to ESAs!

Dallas County Selects New Voter Check-In Tablet Provider Following 2024 Election Issues
Dallas County is taking steps to improve the voting process after glitches in the 2024 general election. On Tuesday, county commissioners are set to approve a two-year contract worth up to $7.6 million with KNOWiNK, LLC, a St. Louis-based vendor, to replace the electronic pollbooks used for voter check-in.
The previous devices were decertified by the state following reported issues during the November election. To help cover costs, the Texas Secretary of State may approve a Help America Vote Act (HAVA) reimbursement grant, which could fund the replacement of 3,152 electronic pollbooks.
Election integrity and accessibility remain top priorities for Dallas County as they work to ensure a smoother and more reliable voting experience for all residents in upcoming elections.

This marks the first time the city has rezoned a neighborhood in part due to environmental concerns—a long-overdue victory for the community.
For years, residents have also been advocating for a park on the former Shingle Mountain site, which the city now owns. Thanks to support from HKS, renderings of the proposed park are now available.
